When we talk about new series on Paramount+ or any other streaming service, we’re referring to new original shows. This means international shows that have already been on in other markets don’t count. So no, North Shore is not a new Paramount+ TV show. Nor is BBC One’s The Woman in the Wall. They are existing TV shows that are simply new to Paramount+.

However, Paramount+ (or other streaming services) might co-produce new shows with studios in other countries and the release schedules may differ. This happened with one of the shows listed below (which is why it’s worth mentioning here).

With that clarification out of the way, we’d love to get to the trailers for every new series on Paramount+ coming this year. However, for some reason, Paramount+ seems keen to keep a lot of trailers under wraps at the moment. We can’t even find one for Sexy Beast — which premieres in just 18 days!

👀 CHECK IT OUT

Our Paramount+ Review can help you decide if the platform is worth your hard-earned bucks.

Sexy Beast

The new Paramount+ Sexy Beast series is a prequel to the 2000 movie of the same name starring Ray Winstone and Ben Kingsley. If you haven’t seen the “retired crook does one last job” film the series is based on, it’s currently streaming on Paramount+ and nowhere else.

The Sexy Beast series take place in 1990s London and the craziness of the criminal underworld during that time. It serves as an origin story for Gal Dove, Don Logan, and Teddy Bass, so it’s recommended you watch the movie first.

However, it’s unlikely watching the movie first will be a prerequisite to enjoying or understanding the series. But it’s a good movie, and with just an 89-minute runtime, it’s even worth a re-watch before diving into the series.

  • Release Date: January 25, 2024
  • Format: Scripted limited series
  • Number of episodes: 8
  • Release Schedule: Weekly
  • Genre(s): Crime thriller

The Turkish Detective

The Turkish Detective television series is based on English writer Barbara Nadel’s series of novels featuring Inspector Çetin İkmen of the Istanbul police force. The show follows the hard-living, weathered cop and his 2 younger colleagues as they solve crimes in modern day Istanbul.

Paramount+ collaborated with Miramax and Turkish production company Ay Yapim to produce the series. It seems that the series was already been released in late summer in Turkey, but there’s still no official release date for the show on Paramount+.

Knuckles

The husky voice of Idris Elba returns as Knuckles the Echidna in this spin-off of 2022’s Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It’s the first live-action series in the franchise and now has a confirmed release date.

The new series with Idris Elba as the titular character is set between the events in Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and Sonic The Hedgehog 3. The story follows Knuckles “on a hilarious and action-packed journey of self-discovery as he agrees to train Wade (Adam Pally) as his protégé and teach him the ways of the Echidna warrior.”

All 6 episodes will drop at once.

  • Release Date: April 27, 2024
  • Format: Scripted episodic series
  • Number of episodes: 6
  • Release Schedule: Binge
  • Genre(s): Action, Adventure, Comedy

Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Another popular animated franchise, Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is now confirmed as a summer release on Paramount+

All that’s available at the moment is a 30-second teaser trailer, but that’s still good news for TMNT fans.

  • Release Date: Summer 2024
  • Format: Animated series
  • Number of episodes: TBA
  • Release Schedule: TBA
  • Genre(s): Superhero, Sci-fi, Comedy

New series on Paramount+ planned for 2024 but not confirmed

The list of confirmed release dates for new TV shows on Paramount+ is pretty thin to kick off the year. Especially seeing as there are a number of highly anticipated shows to look forward to.

When the dates are confirmed and the trailers drop, we’ll be sure to add them above. For now, these are the new series on Paramount+ that (as of writing) have yet to get an official release date.

Dungeon & Dragons

If the D&D series is anything like Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, that’ll be worth a Paramount+ subscription in and of itself. This is one to follow closely.

Flashdance

Based on the hit 80s dance movie Flashdance — which was the first collaboration between blockbuster producers Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer — this certainly has the foundation to be a compelling series. It will be interesting to see if they can pull it off.

Urban Cowboy

Similar to Flashdance above, another 80s movie is getting its own TV series adaptation. Urban Cowboy was already cancelled once, when it was in the pilot stage over at Fox in 2022. But Paramount+ picked it up and hired a new director and writers, so it’s another one to keep an eye.

Land Man

Land Man is a Taylor Sheridan creation about billionaire oilmen and the roughnecks who work the rigs. This is great news for fans of Yellowstone as it basically is Yellowstone. No date is confirmed yet, but it rumors peg it for possibly dropping late this year. If not, it’s bound to be out in 2025.

Happy Face

Happy Face is a series based on the true story of Melissa Jesperson-Moore who, at age 15, found out her dad was a serial killer known as the Happy Face Killer.

Everybody Still Hates Chris

Everybody Still Hates Chris is an animated version of Chris Rock’s popular critically acclaimed sitcom. The cartoon reboot will also be available on Comedy Central.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy

A series that many are looking forward to while simultaneously fearing, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy was originally slated for a May 24, 2024 release date. However, the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in Hollywood have delayed the hotly anticipated series. While it’s still possible the show premieres late this year, there’s a very chance the newest Star Trek show beams down in 2025.
