The so-called Streamflation Crisis of 2023 saw a wave of price increases sweep across the streaming landscape. Starz price plans were not immune from the “trend” last year, but the streamer lowered its price at the same time.

Interesting, no?

And even after the dollar price hike, it remains among the lowest-priced ad-free streaming services out there.

Read on for all you need to know about how much Starz costs in 2024.

Just tell me the price! How much does Starz cost?

$10 a month.

To be specific, it’s $9.99/month. And it’s even cheaper if you sign up for more than a month.

When did Starz prices go up?

Starz pricing went up on June 26, 2023.

But the price of Starz also went down on the same day.

How?

The monthly plan increased a dollar, from $8.99/month to $9.99/month. However, Starz lowered the price of its Annual Plan by 5 bucks, dropping it from $74.99 to $69.99 per year.

Starz price plans

Starz keeps things as simple as can be by offering a single, ad-free plan. That means everyone gets the same features, same library, and same perks.

But that doesn’t mean everyone pays the same amount.

If you pay $69.99 for a year of Starz up front, it only costs $5.83/month. And if you don’t feel like committing to the streamer for an entire year, at $45.99 for 6 months, the Semi-Annual Plan works out to $7.67/month.

Starz: $9.99/month

  • Full access to the Starz on-demand library
  • 17 Starz multiplex channels (on-demand)
  • Ads: No
  • User profiles: 5
  • Downloads: Yes
  • Simultaneous screens: 4
  • Quality: Full HD (1080p)
  • Annual Plan: $69.99/year
  • Semi-Annual Plan: $45.99/6 months

Does Starz have an annual plan?

Yes.

As noted above, the Starz Annual Plan costs $69.99/year, which is a massive savings compared to paying monthly. You save $49.89 by paying for a year up front, which is equal to 5 months free. That’s hands down the best annual plan savings in the industry.

There’s also a Starz Semi-Annual Plan, which is something of a rarity in the streaming industry. (It’s uncommon in digital services across the board.) It saves you $13.95 over the half-year, which is almost equal to 1½ months for free.

Is there a Starz free trial?

No.

Not directly.

Like many other streaming service in recent years—since Netflix led the charge in 2020—many streaming services put an end to their free trials. And Starz is no exception.

But there are still ways to get Starz for free, including through Hulu, DirecTV Stream, or buying a Roku streaming device. Read about all the ways to get a Starz free trial in 2024.

How do Starz prices compare to other streaming services?

Even though the Starz monthly price increased in 2023, it’s still one of the lowest-priced on-demand streaming services around.

Starz costs a dollar more per month than AMC+’s ad-free plan and is the same price as Apple TV+, which also has a single, ad-free plan.

It’s much cheaper than the ad-free plans for Disney+, Netflix, Max, and Hulu. Granted, its library is not a large or diverse as most of those.

The table below shows how Starz compares to other popular on-demand steaming services in terms of pricing, and other key features like simultaneous streams, downloads, and more.

Is Starz worth it?

With so many options out there for streaming movies and TV, how does Starz compare to the competition?

The first selling point is that it’s completely ad-free. Not only that, it’s one of the cheapest ad-free streaming services around.

Starz is also focused on movies and its original series. So it is decidedly not for sports fans or lovers of network television sitcoms.

Starz doesn’t have as broad appeal as most other streaming services, but if you like the slate of Starz original series, it’s obviously worth it. On the other hand, if you’re looking for the hottest new blockbusters or TV shows about brilliant-yet-quirky white male detectives, it’s probably not for you.

But is Starz worth it for $3/month?

Definitely. Even if you only watch a single movie, it’s worth it.

But if you’d like to know more before signing up to a Starz price plan, check out our Starz Review for a look at all the streaming service has to offer.
