It was just a few years ago every streaming service offered a free trial. But in October 2020 Netflix scrapped its free trial and got the ball rolling. Not all streaming services followed suit, including Peacock’s most comparable competitor, CBS’ Paramount+.

Unfortunately, NBCUniversal did follow suit and put an end to the Peacock free trial in November 2021.

However… there’s always a “however” isn’t there?

You can still get Peacock for “free” when you spend money on something on else. So read on for all you need to know about getting Peacock for free in 2024, as well as a few tips on how to pay less for the streaming service.

Does Paramount+ offer a free trial in 2024?

No.

As noted above, there is no official Peacock free trial in 2024.

Here’s what the streaming service free trial situation looks like at the moment:

Streaming Service Free Trial Repeatable
AMC+ 7 Days No
Apple TV+ 7 Days No
Disney+ None -
Hulu 30 Days Yes
Max (HBO) None* -
MGM+ 7 Days Yes
Netflix None* -
Paramount+ 7 Days No
Peacock None* -
Prime Video 30 Days Every 12 Months
Starz None* -
* The service does not offer a free trial directly, but there might be promotions and other ways to get a free trial.

When was the last Peacock free trial?

Peacock cancelled its free trial program in November 2021.

Before that you could try either Peacock Premium or Peacock Premium Plus free for 7 days.

What happened to Peacock’s free tier?

When it launched in July 2020, Peacock had 3 tiers—Free, Premium, and Premium Plus.

The Free plan had ads and offered a sampling of Peacock’s overall content library. Viewers had access to mostly older shows, while only the first episodes of newer shows were available to watch. It also included Peacock’s ad-supported linear channels.

Peacock’s Free tier was shuttered in January 2023. And while it’s hard to argue with free, it wasn’t really worth it for new content. But if you wanted to watch 50-year-old TV shows and B-movies, you were golden.

How to get Peacock for free

There may not be an official Peacock free trial in 2024, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get the streamer for free. Of course, “free” almost always require signing up for something else. But if you’re already using that something else, it pays to know your options.

Get Peacock Premium for free with an Instacart+ subscription (February 2024)

If you order your groceries online, you’ve probably heard of Instacart. If you get your groceries the old-fashioned way by going to the grocery store, Instacart does that for you.

You use the Instacart app to order what you need from your preferred grocer (provider they’re covered), and a personal shopper will go shopping for you, then deliver them to your door.

Instacart+ is $10/month or $99/year and it includes a subscription to Peacock Premium (which is $5.99/month or $59.99/year).

So you can either look at it as getting Peacock for free or—if you don’t have a personal grocery shopper but plan to get Peacock—it’s like getting Instacart+ for $39/year.
