Confirmed new series on Peacock

Ted

Who knew that Ted needed an origin story?

Seth MacFarlane’s sentient teddy bear returns for the third installment in the Ted franchise. And okay, it’s not exactly an origin story because that was covered in the first movie. But it serves as a prequel to everything aside from the brief opening scene of the 2012 comedy that made 10 times its budget, raking in a half-billion bucks at the box office.

The series is set in 1993 and Ted is forced to start attending high school with John.

Episodes run from 34 minutes to 51 minutes in length.

  • Release Date: January 11, 2024
  • Format: Scripted series
  • Number of episodes: 7
  • Release Schedule: Binge
  • Genre(s): Comedy

In the Know

Zach Woods brings his deadpan humor to the world of claymation as a public radio host Γ  la NPR in this satiric comedy series.

While the regular characters are all animated, there are live action real-life guests β€” such as Mike Tyson β€” on the show. Kind of the like what The Muppet Show did with guests back in the 1970s.

Episodes are 30 minutes each, so you can binge the entire season in just 3 hours.

  • Release Date: January 25, 2024
  • Format: Animated series
  • Number of episodes: 6
  • Release Schedule: Binge
  • Genre(s): Comedy, Stop-motion animation, Adult animation

Couple to Throuple

Because Temptation Island doesn’t go far enough, the good people at Peacock decided to take things one step further. They’re not just testing the strength or relationships by surrounding couples with hotties, they’re putting them in bed together right from the start.

It might come as a surprise to see a reality TV show about threesomes and polyamorous dating on Peacock, but that’s the freedom NBC gets by shunning the shackles of broadcast television.

The show will drop according to a hybrid between the binge model and weekly episodes, releasing new episodes in batches.

  • Release Date: Feb 8, 2024
  • Format: Reality TV series
  • Number of episodes: 10
  • Release Schedule: Batches
  • Genre(s): Reality TV, Dating, Contest

Apples Never Fall

Apples Never Fall is based on the book of the same name by Liane Moriarty, who also wrote Big Little Lies, which was adapted by HBO for its award-winning series in 2019.

Stan and Joy Delaney sell their prestigious tennis academy. And after 50 years of marriage, they’re ready to enjoy retirement together.

Until Joy goes missing.

Sam Neill and Annette Bening star as the couple in question. And if it’s anything like Big Little Lies, it should keep viewers glued to their screens for all 7 episodes.

  • Release Date: March 2024
  • Format: Limited series
  • Number of episodes: 7
  • Release Schedule: Weekly (unconfirmed)
  • Genre(s): Mystery, Thriller, drama

Crystal Lake

Trailer unavailable for Crystla Lake - pic of Jason holding an axe in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning - New Series on Peacock in 2024

Based one of the most iconic horror franchises of all-time, the Friday the 13th prequel series offers a deeper look into the origin story of Jason Voorhees.

It reportedly takes place before the events of the first Friday the 13th, but not much more is known than that. All that Peacock’s official release give us is this: “A group of friends vacation at a house that’s connected to a dark past.”

The first movie takes place in the summer of 1979, with flashback s to 1958 (after Jason’s drowning in 1957), so it stands to reason some of the show will occur then. But don’t expect an all-out period piece.

Writer and showrunner Bryan Fuller offered a few hints in an interview with Fangoria back in the fall of 2022, but not much else has been revealed since then. It’s definitely a show that we’ll be keeping an eye on.

  • Release Date: TBA 2024
  • Format: Scripted episodic series
  • Number of episodes: TBA
  • Release Schedule: TBA
  • Genre(s): Horror
