Following that Season 1 cliffhanger, when can we expect Tulsa King Season 2? Nothing’s confirmed as of yet, but a recent update on the show’s production means we can make some predictions.

So what do we know?

Tulsa King was created by the insanely prolific Taylor Sheridan for Paramount+, where it premiered on November 14, 2022. Because everything the man touches turns to gold, it was promptly renewed for a second season that same month.

(The premiere episode was broadcast on Paramount Network a week later, attracting 3.7 million viewers, which was the most for any new show premiering on cable TV in 2022.)

However, as with every show last year, the 2023 Hollywood strikes put a wrinkle in the production of the second season of Tulsa King.

So where do things stand in 2024?

Read on for all we know about Tulsa King Season 2.

UPDATE: May 25, 2024

Stallone posted a reel on his Instagram filmed during a break in shooting courthouse scenes for Tulsa King Season 2. And for fans of the show, the news couldn’t be better.

It appears that the show is staining true to its update from last month and Season 2 of Tulsa King will definitely drop this fall. Not only that, it’s going to be early fall.

I’m not supposed to be doing this, but I am because I’m proud of what we’re doing and the show is going to be fantastic TULSA KING SECOND SEASON. We’re coming out in early fall.

UPDATE: April 3, 2024

Stallone appeared in a short video on the Paramount+ Instagram account on April 2 and the news is better than we expected. It looks like Tulsa King Season 2 will drop around the time we hoped, but much sooner than we rationally predicted.

It seems that Stallone and friends are up to the challenge, as the Paramount+ Instagram Reel ends with a poster proclaiming: Tulsa King RETURNS THIS FALL.

When is the Tulsa King Season 2 release date?

While Season 2 of Tulsa King was confirmed almost immediately, production of the season was not met with the same level of urgency. But this was due to the overlapping writers and actors strikes in Hollywood that lasted from May to November.

For his part, Stallone—a prolific and Oscar-nominated screenwriter himself—gave his full support to the writers.

“And then they’re living in under this cloud of AI [artificial intelligence]. It’s a very terrifying time to be a writer.”

Sylvester Stallone, Newsweek (May 2023)

While the first season was mostly shot on location in Oklahoma, Tulsa King Season 2 is scheduled to be shot in Atlanta, Georgia.

According to an exclusive in the city’s Atlanta Journal-Constitution on February 2, 2024 (paywall), filming “will begin shooting soon”.

If “soon” means within a month or so, that means shooting of Tulsa King Season 2 will start in February or March. That will make it a challenge to repeat a November release like the first season.

It’s not impossible, but it’s more likely that Tulsa King Season 2 will be released in early 2025. With its star being 77 years old—albeit a young 77—we don’t imagine they’ll wait until November 2025 and will get it out as soon as possible.

What is Tulsa King about?

After serving 25 years in prison for murder—and not ratting out The Family—New York City mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi (Stallone) doesn’t get the warm welcome home he was expecting.

Rather than take his rightful seat at the table in NYC, he’s shipped off to Oklahoma to get things started in Tulsa.

Building a new criminal empire from scratch, Manfredi starts by hiring his taxi driver (Jay Will) to be his personal driver. He then approaches the owner of a local weed dispensary (Martin Starr) and making him an offer he can’t refuse. Literally.

With his new crew in place, it’s not long before he attracts the attention of the local criminal competition—and the ATF. And to sweeten the plot, he’s already had a one-night stand with the ATF agent (Andrea Savage) investigating him.

Add to this Manfredi’s growing distrust of his “friends back home”, the first season of ended on a cliffhanger that demanded a second season of Tulsa King.

When was Tulsa King Season 1?

Tulsa King premiered on Paramount+ on November 14, 2022. New episodes were released weekly over the course of its 9-episode season.

The first 2 episodes of Tulsa King were also aired on regular cable, shown on Paramount Network on November 20 and 27. They aired right after new episodes from the 5th season of another Taylor Sheridan hit, Yellowstone.

Who are the main characters in Tulsa King?

Sylvester Stallone stars as Dwight “The General” Manfredi, a mob capo in the Invernizzi family who is exiled to Tulsa, Oklahoma after serving 25 years for murder.

Jay Will is Tyson Mitchell, Manfredi’s personal driver and first member of his new Tulsa crew. Not from a life of crime, Manfredi is often concerned for his well-being.

Martin Starr is Bodhi Geigerman, owner of local (and legal) weed dispensary. He becomes Manfredi’s (initially reluctant) partner-in-crime.

Andrea Savage is Manfredi’s love interest, Stacey Beale. She’s not only 25 years his junior—which at first horrified her—but also the ATF agent tasked with bringing him down.

Where can you watch Tulsa King?

While all of the episodes are obviously streaming on Paramount+, you can also stream the entire first season on DirecTV Stream, which now includes the Paramount+ with Showtime plan.

You can also buy the whole season or individual episodes on Apple TV (through iTunes), Prime Video, Vudu, and Microsoft.

If you’ve already got DirecTV Stream, you’re all set. But if you don’t, it’s the most expensive live TV streaming service on the market, so not the most affordable way to watch Tulsa King. And seeing as buying a single season costs the same as 2–4 months of Paramount+, depending on your price plan, that’s also something to consider.
