The big streaming buzzword in 2023 was streamflation, referring to the spate of price increases around the industry. And sure, there were price hikes abound. But where do things stand this year? Here’s a quick rundown on streaming prices in 2024.

On-demand streaming prices
While some on-demand streaming services now offer live TV such as sports or local network affiliate stations, their main focus remains on-demand content.
AMC+ pricing
AMC+ has the lowest-priced streaming plan out there with an ad-supported plan for just 5 bucks a month. However, only the ad-free plan can be paid for annually.

Apple TV+ pricing
Apple TV+ is one of the few streaming services that still offers a single, ad-free plan. You can pay for Apple TV+ either monthly or annually.

Disney+ pricing
Disney+ launched with a single plan for $6.99/month in 2019. But in 5 short years it now offers 6 plans to choose from—soon to be 7 plans when the Disney+, Hulu, Max Bundle become available this summer. Only one Disney+ plan is available as a yearly subscription.

Hulu pricing
Hulu has one of the most expensive ad-free on-demand plans on the market.
It has an ad-supported and ad-free plan as well as all of the Disney Bundles listed above. Conversely to Disney+, you can only pay for Hulu annually with the ad-supported plan.

Max pricing
Max has the second-most-expensive on-demand streaming plan around and is one of the few streaming services that charges extra for 4K video quality.
The silver lining is that all 3 plans have an annual option that saves a bit of money and they go on sale at least once a year.

MGM+ is another one of the few streaming services that keeps things simple with a single plan. And, like Apple TV+, there are no commercials. You can pay for MGM+ monthly or annually.

Netflix pricing
Netflix has the most expensive on-demand streaming plan on the market. But it’s ad-supported plan sits in the middle of the pack. There are 3 plans to choose from, but there’s no Netflix annual plan for any of them.

Paramount+ pricing
Paramount+ launched with 2 plans, expanded to 4 plans, then shrunk back to 2 plans again. One with ads, one without.
The latter includes Showtime. It also gets you 4K content, as Paramount+ is one of the few streaming services to lock 4K streaming quality behind a higher-priced tier.

Peacock pricing
Peacock launched with 3 plans in 2020, one of which was completely free. The free plan came to and in February 2023, so there are now 2 plans available, with and without ads.
Both plans come with 4K content and annual plans.

Prime Video pricing
Prime Video was completely ad-free until January 2024, when it started charging $2.99/month to remove the newly introduced commercials.
As a standalone service, Prime Video can only be subscribed to monthly. However, it’s included with a full Prime membership, which does have an annual plan.

Starz is the third and final streaming service that manages to get by with a simple, single, ad-free plan.
You can pay for Starz monthly or yearly or even semi-annually.

Live TV streaming prices
While all live TV streaming services offer on-demand libraries with their plans, their key selling proposition is the live TV channels they offer. They generally cost 10 times as much (or more) than on-demand streaming services.

DirecTV Stream pricing
DirecTV Stream has the most expensive streaming prices in the universe.
To make matters even worse, it laughably now requires a 2-year contract. But that’s not all! It also requires an equipment rental plus a Regional Sports Fee on top of the subscription price. (Those a re 2 separate fees.)
It’s basically cable over the internet, which isn’t surprising seeing as it’s owned by AT&T.

Fubo is a sports-oriented live TV streaming service. Fubo sits at the mid-to-high end of live TV streaming prices. Like most live TV streaming services, there is no Fubo annual plan.

Hulu + Live TV pricing
Hulu + Live TV is arguably the best live TV streaming service for families as it includes the Disney Bundle with Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. However, if you don’t want all that extra stuff, you get the Live TV Only plan for a dollar less.
There is no Hulu + Live TV annual plan.
