Hulu is home to some of the best new shows in recent years, namely Only Murders in the Building. But what about the brand new series on Hulu premiering this year? There are definitely some shows that look worthy of must-watch lists, particularly Echo and Shōgun, both of which are (currently) limited series.

However, with Hulu being joined at the hip with Disney+ and FX, the definition of “Hulu original” isn’t a clear-cut as it used to be. To keep things simple (and not miss something), co-releases are listed below as well.

Confirmed new series on Hulu in 2024

Daughters of the Cult

Produced by ABC News Studios, Hulu’s 5-part documentary series offers a deep dive into the cult of Mormon fundamentalist Ervil LeBaron. Polygamy, murder, and abuse, with firsthand accounts told by the people who were there.

All 5 episodes dropped at once and are available to watch on Hulu now.

  • Release Date: January 4, 2024
  • Format: Limited docuseries
  • Number of episodes: 5
  • Release Schedule: Binge
  • Genre(s): Documentary, True crime, Religion

Echo

The Echo miniseries is a follow-up to the Hawkeye miniseries from 2021. The titular character and leader of the Tracksuit Mafia returns home to find her roots, confront her past, and prepare to take on Kingpin.

This is technically a Disney+ original, but it drops simultaneously on Hulu. However, it’s only on the latter platform until April 9th, so be sure to watch it if you’ve got Hulu but not Disney+.

Granted, it seems unlikely that Marvel fans wouldn’t have the Disney+ Bundle which includes both streaming services. So maybe this release schedule is a way to lure Hulu-only subscribers to upgrade to the package deal.

This is notably the first time Marvel is following the binge model when debuting a new series and releasing all episodes at once. Is this a sign of things to come, or is it simply making up for lost time after Hollywood’s Double Strike?

  • Release Date: January 9, 2024
  • Format: Limited series
  • Number of episodes: 5
  • Release Schedule: Binge
  • Genre(s): Crime, Action, Superhero

Death and Other Details

A locked room mystery in the vein of Death on the Nile and Murder on the Orient Express, Hulu’s Death and Other Details boasts its own World’s Greatest Detective, one Rufus Cotesworth.

Rufus, played the always-wonderful Many Patinkin, is aided by his young, beautiful protégé Imogene (Violett Beane) as he’s called upon to solve a murder on a luxury sailboat cruising the Mediterranean.

  • Release Date: January 16, 2024
  • Format: Scripted episodic series
  • Number of episodes: 10
  • Release Schedule: Weekly
  • Genre(s): Mystery

Superhot: The Spicy World of Pepper People

It’s a food documentary about the world of insanely hot chili peppers and the crazy people who love them.

Even though it premiers in less than 2 weeks, there’s still no trailer for it. Until it drops, you can check out the official Hulu press release on Superhot for all the spicy details.

  • Release Date: January 22, 2024
  • Format: Docuseries
  • Number of episodes: 10
  • Release Schedule: Binge

Love & WWE: Bianca & Montez

Hulu’s reality TV series promises an inside peek into the personal lives of professional wrestling’s hottest power couple, Bianca Belair and Montez Ford. Will it be as real as pro wrestling? No doubt.

There’s no trailer as of this writing, but the WWE confirms that all 8 episodes will drop at once on February 2. Check out the official Hulu press release on Love & WWE: Bianca & Montez for more details.

  • Release Date: February 2, 2024
  • Format: Reality TV series
  • Number of episodes: 8
  • Release Schedule: Binge
  • Genre(s): Reality

Me Hereafter

Hulu’s new true crime series combines police footage and dramatizations, following homicide detectives as they work through murder investigations.

The trailer gives a good idea of what the show’s about and it’s confirmed for 4 episodes, premiering February 29th.

  • Release Date: February 29, 2024
  • Format: Docuseries
  • Number of episodes: 4
  • Release Schedule: TBA
  • Genre(s): Documentary, True crime

Shōgun

A co-production of Hulu and FX, Shōgun is based on James Clavell’s best-selling 1975 novel of the same name. The novel was loosely based on historical events and figures, namely English explorer (and eventual Western samurai) William Adams and Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate, which ruled Japan for the better part of 3 centuries.

Could this be the first Hollywood “Japanese” series or movie that doesn’t have Ken Watanabe in it? It’s possible! Perhaps he was too busy working on season 2 of Tokyo Vice for HBO Max. (Note: this is hyperbole.)

  • Release Date: February 27, 2024
  • Format: Scripted episodic series
  • Number of episodes: 6
  • Release Schedule: Weekly
  • Genre(s): Historical drama

We Were the Lucky Ones

Based on the novel of the same by Georgia Hunter, it follows the true life story of a Jewish family separated at start of World War II and their determination to one day be together again.

There’s still no trailer, but Hulu released a “Date Announcement” video with its 2 stars.

  • Release Date: March 28, 2024
  • Format: Limited series
  • Number of episodes: 8
  • Release Schedule: TBA
  • Genre(s): Period drama

Interior Chinatown

Trailer unavailable for Interior Chinatown - New Series on Hulu in 2024

Based on the wonderfully inventive and entertaining novel of the same name by Charles Yu, Interior Chinatown stars Jimmy O. Yang and Chloe Bennet.

Willis, a twenty-something Asian American actor, is born, raised, and continues to live in Chinatown. He’s cast in an endless series of stereotypical roles, hoping one day to land the role for guys like him — Kung Fu Guy. Along the way, he marries and has a family of his own, reflecting on life as an Asian in America.

Many books nowadays seem like they’re “written for Netflix”, as though the writer has a series adaptation in mind right from the get-go. But even though it’s structured like a screenplay, Interior Chinatown is no such book. So it’s going to very interesting to see how it hits the screen.

  • Release Date: TBA 2024
  • Format: Scripted episodic series
  • Number of episodes: 10
  • Release Schedule: TBA
  • Genre(s): Drama, Satire, Comedy

The Veil

Trailer unavailable for The Veil - New Series on Hulu in 2024

There’s not much information yet on this new Hulu series co-produced with FX, except that it’s a thriller about 2 women playing “a deadly game of truth and lies on the road from Istanbul to Paris and London”.

If that’s not tantalizing enough, The Veil stars Elisabeth Moss. Which is reason enough to watch it.

  • Release Date: April 30, 2024
  • Format: Scripted episodic series
  • Number of episodes: 6
  • Release Schedule: TBA
  • Genre(s): Thriller

Under the Bridge

Trailer unavailable for Under the Bridge - New Series on Hulu in 2024

Based on the award-winning non-fiction book of the same name by late Canadian writer Rebecca Godfrey, the Hulu series is about the horrifying murder of teenager Reena Virk by her fellow schoolmates.

Riley Keough portrays Godfrey while Izzy G stars as Kelly Ellard, one of the most notorious (and evil) female killers in Canadian history.

  • Release Date: April 17, 2024
  • Format: Limited series
  • Number of episodes: 6
  • Release Schedule: Weekly
  • Genre(s): Drama, True crime

Washington Black

Trailer unavailable for Washington Black - New Series on Hulu in 2024
