It’s been 9 years since the true crime docuseries The Jinx debuted on HBO. And it’s been 2 years since the creepy real estate magnate died. So a second season may come as a bit of a surprise.
But that’s precisely what Warner Bros. Discovery announced a couple of days ago. The Jinx – Part Two will continue the Emmy-winning docuseries with 6 episodes, the first of which premieres on April 21.

What is The Jinx – Part Two about?
While The Jinx seemed to not leave any doubts about Durst’s guilt—he was convicted and sentence to life in prison in 2021—HBO promises there’s still a lot more to the story. Six episodes worth in fact.
The official synopsis states:
Just hours before that last episode aired, Durst was arrested for the murder of his longtime friend Susan Berman in Los Angeles. THE JINX – PART TWO meticulously chronicles the continued investigation over the next eight years as Durst awaited and sat trial, uncovering new information and following the prosecutor’s case as it unfolded.
The new season of The Jinx follows the real estate tycoon’s final murder trial. The second season promises to reveal new material, including interviews with associates of Durst who hadn’t come forward, phone calls Durst made from jail, and video footage of his interrogation.
It will also include “candid interviews” with jurors, lawyers from both sides of the aisle, and even the judge.

When does The Jinx – Part Two come out?
According to the press release, HBO has released the dates, titles, and synopses of the first 4 episodes of The Jinx – Part Two.
The first episode “Chapter 7: Why Are You Still Here?” comes out Sunday, April 21 on HBO at 10PM ET/PT. The next 4 episodes follow weekly every Sunday night at the 10PM.
How long are episodes in The Jinx – Part Two?
The episodes are 50 minutes to an hour long. That’s slightly longer than the episodes of the first season, which run from 38 minutes to 51 minutes.
Where can you watch The Jinx (Part One)?
If you haven’t seen the first season of The Jinx or want to re-watch it before the new season, you’ll find it the same place as the second season. You can only stream The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst on Max.
However, you can also buy digital versions on Amazon, Google Play, and Vudu. Episodes are currently $2.99 each on Amazon and Google, but just $1.99 on Vudu.
Do you need to watch season one before The Jinx – Part Two?
While we don’t know how much background info the filmmakers will provide to start out Season 2 of The Jinx, but it probably won’t be enough.
The first season of The Jinx is thoroughly compelling and—without giving away too many spoilers—the documentary itself became part of the story. We assume it’s going to be a critical part of the first episode. So it doesn’t make a lot of sense to jump into The Jinx – Part Two without having watched the first season.
How long does it take to watch the first season of The Jinx?
If you’re looking to watch the first season of The Jinx before the second season debuts, you’ll need a bit of time, but not much. All 6 episodes are under an hour and add up to 268 minutes in total. That’s just under 4½ hours. Which is basically what superhero movies are nowadays, right?
