Even though The Boys season 4 release date is still under wraps, there is now digitally tangible proof that another season of Amazon’s award-winning show is in the works.
While The Boys Season 5 has not been officially confirmed by Amazon Prime Video, a film industry workers’ organization has a listing for the season’s production schedule.
According to productionlist.com—the Film & Television Industry Alliance’s production tracking service—Season 5 of The Boys is set to begin filming in Toronto, Canada this spring. The specific dates have production starting April 8 and wrapping on August 22, 2024.

When is The Boys Season 5 release date?
Seeing as Season 4 hasn’t even received an official release date yet, the release date for The Boys Season 5 is a loooong way off. However, that won’t stop us from making some very early predictions.
So far The Boys has always been a summer release. And while the 2023 Hollywood strikes delayed the production and release of Season 4, the series appears to be back on track.
A brief history of The Boys season premiers:
- Season 1: July 26, 2019 (all 8 episodes at once)
- Season 2: September 4, 2020 (3 episodes, then weekly)
- Season 3: June 3, 2022 (3 episodes, then weekly)
As you can see, first the pandemic threw a wrench into The Boys broadcast schedule, bumping it from Summer 2021. Then the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes knocked The Boys out of Summer 2023.
With Season 5 production wrapping in August 2024, that gives Amazon Studios more than enough time to get Butcher and The Boys ready for a Summer 2025 release date.
Will Season 5 be the last season of The Boys?
According to the show’s creator and showrunner Eric Kripke, The Boys was initially envisioned as a 5-season story arc. However, in an October 2023 interview with Inverse, Kripke offered an amendment to that original plan.
Given the incredible success of the show—and its well-received spinoff Gen V—he has decided that the only way to know how long a show will run is with hindsight. After all, he’d planned for Supernatural to go for 5 seasons and it went on for 15 (albeit 10 without him at the helm).

The good news for fans of the world’s most violent superhero franchise is that the future looks bright. Gen V Season 2 was confirmed before its first season even ended and that The Boys Season 5 will likely starts production before Season 4 even airs. That’s a lot exploding heads still left to watch.

Before we start thinking too much about The Boys Season 5, we’ve still got a full season to enjoy that hasn’t even been released yet. So far there have been 2 official trailers for the upcoming season of The Boys.
A new trailer for the upcoming season of The Boys aired during Super Bowl XLVIII and was then posted to Vought International’s YouTube Channel.
Before the Super Bowl spot, Prime Video dropped the official teaser trailer for The Boys Season 4 back in December.
