All of the new series on Disney+ were delayed due to the strikes in Hollywood last year. Some of them — such as the new Daredevil series — are confirmed to be pushed back into 2025. However, there are still at least a half-dozen new shows landing on the Mouse’s streaming service this year.
Unfortunately there aren’t a lot of trailers out yet. Sure, a web search might offer a list of trailers for The Acolyte or Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, but they’re all fake. (To call them fan-made is a disservice to fan films.)
There is currently only one official trailer for the new shows on Disney+ this year — for Echo. So we’ll update this when new trailers drop. Until then we’ve got as much information regarding the release date, release schedule, and the number of episodes for each new series on Disney+ planned for 2024.

Confirmed new series on Disney+
Echo
As the latest TV show in the MCU, Echo shares continuity with the Marvel theatrical films. It premiered on January 9th, making it the first new series on Disney+ to come out this year.
The show takes place 5 months after the events of the Disney+ series Hawkeye. It follows Maya Lopez (ie: Echo) as she returns home to get back in touch her family, reconnect with her Native American roots, and prepare to take on the Kingpin.
One of the most groundbreaking things about the series is not about the show, but rather its star. Maya Lopez is not only the first (ever!I) acting role for Alaqua Cox — who stars as the show’s titular character — she’s also the first deaf, indigenous, amputee superhero ever. And the first deaf, indigenous, amputee lead in television history.
X-Men ’97
The upcoming new Disney+ series X-Men ’97 is set to be a continuation of the X-Men: The Animated Series that ran for 5 seasons from 1992 to 1997.
According to a since-deleted tweet by the official Marvel Unlimited Twitter account, the synopsis is as follows:
“Storm and Wolverine try to continue the X-Men. Magneto comes in and wants to step up for Charles Xavier. Sinister comes in to try to end the X-Men once and for all.”
A second season is already in development.

Agatha: Darkhold Diaries
Agatha: Darkhold Diaries is a spin-off from Disney+’s limited series WandaVision from 2021. That means it shares continuity with the movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Kathryn Hahn is back as the titular character, who finds herself without powers after breaking out of her containment cell. She turns to some unlikely allies as she embarks on a quest to get back her powers.
If you haven’t watched WandaVision yet (and why haven’t you?), you need to get on that. You’ve still got some time though as the Agatha: Darkhold Diaries release date is expected to be sometime in the fall as a lead-up to Halloween.
There’s no Agatha: Darkhold Diaries trailer out yet, but Marvel dropped a 2-minute “bonus clip” (see above) about the show back in November. When the trailer drops, we’ll add it here.
- Release Date: September 9, 2024 (approximate)
- Format: Limited series
- Number of episodes: 9
- Release Schedule: TBA
- Genre(s): Superhero, Dark comedy

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

According to an official post by Disney, Skeleton Crew follows 4 kids “who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home — and meeting unlikely allies and enemies — will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.”
Kinda sounds like The Goonies in a galaxy far, far away. (Which sounds awesome.) A live-action coming-of-age series is precisely what the Star Wars universe needs.
The Acolyte
Disney’s other new Star Wars show, The Acolyte, is described as a mystery-thriller by Lucasfilm and it takes place 100 years before the prequel trilogy (ie: Episode I through III, beginning with The Phantom Menace).
So far the synopsis is brief but compelling: Reunited with her Jedi Master, a former Padawan investigates a series of crimes and uncovers something much bigger.
The Acolyte is created by Russian Doll co-creator Leslye Headland, who promises the show will reflect contemporary politics. (Which may come as a disappointment to a certain legion of OG Star Wars fans.) With a strong female protagonist, she describes the newest Star Wars series as “Frozen meets Kill Bill”.
“This isn’t about good or bad. This is about power and who is allowed to use it.”
From The Acolyte
We’ve got an official trailer now. But previously, the audience at last year’s Star Wars Celebration Europe fan convention was treated to an official trailer for The Acolyte — but it was not otherwise officially released to the public. However, a low-quality cam of that trailer for The Acolyte was famously leaked online through Reddit and YouTube. The video and its iterations were promptly removed.
